If you haven’t already seen the Look North Programme from last night you may not be aware that Ian Watson has won the:

BBC ‘Unsung Hero’ Sport Award for Yorkshire, and will be going to the BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards on Sunday as a VIP to find out if he has won the National Award for ‘Unsung Hero’!!

I am sure you will join me in congratulating Ian for this well-deserved Award and recognition for the time and effort he has put into developing the Synchro clubs and swimmers in the area for decades.

Fingers crossed for Sunday! If you haven’t seen the programme it is available to watch on BBC iplayer, you can also follow this Link to the Leeds City Council blog which features this news!

In addition to this, we have had four athletes from Leeds selected for England Talent Programmes 2014. Congratulations to

Rachel Lee & Alice Dewhirst who have a place on the Junior England squad and will be competing internationally in Croatia next year

Rebecca Richardson has a place on the Age Group England Squad and will be competing internationally in Croatia and Greece next year

Natalie Stephenson-Quayle has a place on the England Development Squad who will be learning a combination routine to swim internationally in 2015

Best wishes

Sarah

FW: Season plan 2014

Due to recent events, and Ians nomination for a National BBC Sport Award, which I am attending, unfortunately I will be unable to present on Sunday 15th December.

Alternatively, I will hold the meeting prior to the Christmas display on Saturday 14th December 12pm-12.30pm at Kippax Leisure Centre in the upstairs room to enable to majority of people to still access this.

Therefore the two planned meetings are on:

Wednesday 11th December in the Dennison Suite, Aquatics Centre JCCS 5.45-6.15pm

Saturday 14th December Kippax Leisure Centre upstairs room 12pm- 12.30pm ( training for the show starts at 1pm and this allows time for set up of stalls etc.)

Kind Regards

Sarah Speer
