Final round up

No more medals to report but an a great afternoon with both teams performing well.

Firstly, to tie up the earlier report, Rebecca finished 7th in the 12 & Under Solo.

Now to teams;

In an exciting 12 & Under team event the final positions were;

1. Bristol Central 114.300
2. Rushmoor 106.834
3. Reading 106.819
4. Portsmouth 106.577
5. Trafford 106.500
6. City of Leeds 104.875

So, Bristol Central, well above the field on their own, but just 0.334 separating 4 teams. With penalties awarded to City of Leeds for only having six swimmers they are not too far the pace. So well done to the team.

As for the 15/16/17 team, the results show,

1. Rushmoor 125.393
2. Reading 124.910
3. Bristol 120.232
4. City of Leeds 118.686

Again, as in Scotland, the teams routine score was better than Bristols, but when the figure score was taken into account the team was edged out of the medal positions.

So the final tally was;

1 Silver
1 Bronze

Compared to 3 bronze medals in 2010.

Final word of thanks to everyone involved for helping out, I won't mention specific names as we all know who I mean when I say a big thanks to the coaches, team manager, chaperones, drinks package organisers, those organising transport, those arranging accommodation, those collecting meals, organising and calling the bingo, and not forgetting the football scratch card, without which I would not have won my precious £10 !!!

First Medals

The results for the 12 & Under Solo just in and the first medal for the Club with Melissa getting bronze. Rebecca had an excellent swim as well that the commentator was full of praise for as her routine really demonstrates her flexibility and height in the water. Not got the full results yet, so not got her final placing.tt

However, I do know that Rosie and Jess swam a great routine and in a very close finish pipped the Reading pair of Williams and Usher to get a Silver Medal.

That's

1 Silver
1 Bronze

And teams to come this afternoon.

Late Medal News (another to report)

Another medal to report - one I missed relaying earlier....Melissa Knapton also stormed into Silver position in her 12 and Under Solo as well which again showed the caliber of her routine as she was lying in third position following the figures. She executed the routine confidently and it showed by her medal placing.

This brings the final tally for the club to

2 Gold
3 Silvers
4 Bronze

And Melissa's personal tally to

1 Gold
2 Silvers
1 Bronze

so making her medal haul 4 medals - a truly fantastic weekend.

Well done Melissa.

Sunday 30 October 2011

TEAM GOLD !!!

In the final event of the day the open free combo team swam a faultless routine and go home with a GOLD medal for their efforts, finishing well above silver medalists Rugby, and bronze medalists Trafford.

1. City of Leeds
2. Rugby
3. Trafford
4. Seymour
5. Nairn

Well done to, Ashleigh, Sian, Alice Wood, Alice Dewhirrst, Megan, Georgia, Abigail Devanny, Melissa, Rosie, Jessica, not forgetting the reserves, Rahcel and Abigail Linley.

This is the second team gold for the City of Leeds, and we to go back to 2009 for the 13/14 year team triumph in Scotland. With a strong squad more to follow.

This is the first Gold in City of Leeds colours for,

Ashleigh Rowland
Alice Wood
Sian Boyle
Mellisa Knapton
Abigail Devanny

So a very successful weekend, one which bought medals at this level for the first time to,

Lauren Wyke
Natalie Stephenson-Quayle
Georgia Fielding
Scarlett Kaye
Rebecca Richardson
Angelique Richardson
Abigail Linley

Finally a special mention to Ashleigh Rowland. In her final swim for the club she wins Gold. We have all enjoyed her solos and duets over the years and they will be missed - but a memorable last appearance for the club and hopefully one she won't forget not to mention receiving a fitting send off from those present.

on the way back south now, see you all at training next week !

Silver for the 12 and unders !!!

Well done to the 12 & Under team who swim a fantastic routine to claim the Silver. They were up against tough opposition and narrowly missed out on pipping Bristol for Gold, but a great swim and they will be on the podium tonight.

The Junior Free team were paired against Bristol and although their routine scored higher, they were let down by their figure score which was a full one point behind. No medal this time as there were only the two teams competing.

all in all ere are 18 teams in this years competition and so the medals share is looking healthy as it now stands at,

1 Gold
2 Silvers
4 Bronze

just the combination team to come, there are 5 competitive teams entered so a good chance to add to it.

GOLD in the Junior duet

Well done Jess and Rosie who swimming in last place, wins the GOLD.

As for silver, Ashleigh and Alice missed out by 0.003 in what must be one of the closest scorings so far. So third place finish for the City of Leeds pair. With only four entered in the competition, unfortunately no medal.

Another Bronze in the recreational duet

Yes, Angeligue and Abbie swam a great swim to take bronze in the recreational duet this morning.

Again the support from the balcony was great and spurred them onto a medal finish.

Well done.

Thats

1 Silver
4 Bronzes

awaiting that first gold....hopefully news of the Junior Duets in soon.

Results from Day One

Final results ae out from last nights final two events,

Junior Solo

2nd Rosie Barrington
3rd Jessica Ranson
8th Alice Dewhirst

13/14 Year Duet

5th Rachel Lee & Abigail Devanny

In the pool this morning are Melissa and Rebecca in the 12 and under solo, Rosie and Jess, Ashleigh and Alice also compete in the Junior duet, and Abby and Ange in the Recreational Duet.

Saturday 29 October 2011

2 more medals

In a surprise in the medal ceremony Rosie took Silver with Jess moving into Bronze position.

Both swam fantastic routines and deserved their medals after a great swim from both. That brings the tally today to,

1 Silver
3 Bronze

Hopefully more tomorrow.

12 and under duet

Results are in and Melissa and Rebecca finished 5th in the 12 and under duet. Their swim was well received by the audience and as ever our girls are getting a great reception out there.

The banner is again flying over the balcony and the squad are being well supported by everyone, so thanks to all. We are having a great time here in Drumchapel, and as always are looking to the final day when the teams get their turn.

Hoping to get the result of the Junior Solo soon, where Rosie is lying in 3rd place, Jess in 7th and Alice Dewhirst in 19th. Let's see if they can add to the clubs medal tally when the results are worked out.

As soon as they are, they will be uploaded so keep checking for updates, or push the "follow me" button to be sent an email.

13 / 14 Solo Results

it was close but Rachel and Abigail missed out on the medals finishing 5th and 6th respectively.

Rachel was in 5th place after the figures and so do well to hold position at the business end of the rankings, she really pushed hard for fourth place but couldn't close the gap.

Abigail was lying in 10th place after figures and swam a routine that I calculated was 4th best so improving her position to 6th. She managed to climb above swimmers higher in the figure scores by four places which showed the quality of the solo.

Well done to both girls, and let's not forget they are in the lower age category of this class and so this bodes well for the Nationals and of course next year.

Junior Figures

The second medal for the team as Rosie collects BRONZE;

3rd Rosie Barrington 63.135
8th Jessica Ranson 61.095
13th Alice Wood 60.180

British Championships Day 3 - Part Two

Sure this must be the fastest results service, final scores just being announced as I type.

And news is another great swim from the team saw a much improved score from the judges and although the position was 5th, it is the first time the routine had been swum and finished only 3 points off last years British Champions, Trafford so the girls should be really pleased by their performance.

Results for the free teams were;

1. Rushmoor 69.620
2. Bristol Central 69.410
3. Reading 68.81
4. Trafford 66.88
5. City of Leeds 63.470

giving a final overall position of

1. Rushmoor 137.120
2. Bristol Central 136.510
3. Reading 135.61
4. Trafford 130.580
5. City of Leeds 120.870

Well done the entire squad - now the long journey home !!!

British Championships Day Three - Part 1

This morning was the finale to the duet competition, with Rosie Barrington and Jessica Ranson performing the free routine.

Lying in 9th position from Friday they were looking to hold this and possibly move up the ranking in the overall figure.

Swimming second, they set the standard with a score of 65.160.

After all duets had swam, they finished 7th, which moved them up into 7th place in the overall placings. Again these scores / placings are subject to verification.

This afternoon see the finale to the team event with the free team.

More news to follow...

British Championships Day Two - Part 2

In the clubs first entry into the combination team event, the squad performed an outstanding swim. The double lift at the end of the swim was performed excellently so full marks to the girls for an exciting end to a great performance.

The team finished a respectable sixth, which was an excellent achievement considering it was the first time it had been swam in competition, and some of the girls had never swam in an event on this stage before.

The results, subject to verification were,

1. Bristol Central 70.79
2. Reading Royals 70.08
3. Rushmoor 70.01
4. Trafford 68.05
5. City of Birmingham 64.56
6. City of Leeds 64.56
7. Rugby 62.98
8. City of Preston 58.75

Saturday 23 April 2011

British Championships Day Two - Part One

Teams today,

Firstly the Technical Team. They swam a great routine but really up against the best in the country and after a great performance sit in 5th place.

Technical Merit Score = 58.8
Artistic Impression = 59.0

Overall Score = 58.9

The order as it stands are,

1. Rushmoor
2. Bristol Central
3. Reading
4. Trafford
5. City of Leeds Synchro

Quite surprizing to see Trafford (Last years championship winners) out of the medal positions, but still a lot hinges on the free routine tomorrow. certainly the girls will be pushing Trafford for the fourth place, so should be a great finale.

The Combination Team event is next up, with 8 club teams in this one. To get the results straight to your inbox, click on the follow me link on the left hand side of the blog.

Friday 22 April 2011

British Championships Day One Cont.

Some good comments made on the duet, particularly about the complexity of the linked movement, which was performed by the GB Squad last year.

The scores were

Artistic Impression = 55.2
Overall Impression = 57.4

Meaning they are lying in 9th position with a combined score of 56.3.

Scores are still to be verified, but all now goes to the free routine to be held on Sunday.

British Championships - Day One

On a swelteringly hot day in Gloucester we are gathered awaiting the Technical Duet Competition with Rosie Barrington and Jessica Ranson representing the City of Leeds. In the draw they are 3rd last, so news to follow.

As I type the GB duet have just swam with a fantastic duet showing why they won Silver in the Commonwealth games.

This morning was the Technical Solo routine. Unfortunately as many know Rosie had to withdraw but Sarah Speers (ex City of Leeds Swimmer) finished in 2nd position representing Trafford, and is excellently poised for a medal in the conclusion of the solo event with the free solo on Sunday.

Sunday 27 March 2011
