Medal Success for the 15/16/17 team

Yes following on from the success in Sweden, the team swam a fantastic routine to move into BRONZE position.

BRONZE City of Leeds 126.099

The Gold was won by Reading, with Rushmoor finishing 2nd. City of Leeds 3rd with Bristol in 4th 0.49 points behind. There were 7 teams including Trafford, Rugby, Birmingham so a strong competition this year as ever.

The commentary team liked the routine telling the audience that the City of Leeds is the team to watch out for. They noted the team look fitter and liked the underwater pattern changes. The initial lift was noted for its sustained length of time and height. The double leg off angle verticals were executed perfectly, and the short cadences were effective. best of all the team kept it going until the end and are justly rewarded with their medal.

Well done to

Alice Dewhirst
Angelique Richardson (res)
Eloise Bray
Evie Pedley
Jessica Ranson
Megan Knight

2 SILVERS
2 BRONZE

12 and Under Team Result

In an unexpected twist, the reserve Hope Lee-Fowkes had to swim for the team and helped get a place for the team. With 6 teams competing, the team did brilliantly under the circumstances to finish fifth as that changed all the Walkthrus and planning.

5th City of Leeds 107.246

The team were praised for their travelling straight lines and highlights and finished strongly.

Well done to all the team

Nicola Ingle
Georgia Fielding
Natalie Stephenson-Quayle

15/16/17 Duet BRONZE medal (unofficial)

In a hotly contested final the unofficial results are;

BRONZE Rosie Barrington & Jessica Ranson 127.870
6th Alice Dewhirst & Rachel Lee 122.911
10th Sian Boyle & Megan Knight 117.981

All routines again swam fantastically well. The commentary team were impressed with Rosie and Jess' start. Not only was the assisted lift high out the water, the vertical leg remained so throughout the execution making it very effective. Alice and Rachel's split element was applauded due to difficulty aspect, again the pair making it look easy. Meanwhile Sian and Megan were starting in 11th so did well to move up a place considering the ground they had to make up. Their intricate piece was well executed and synchronised and they were awarded marks for swimming so close together throughout the piece, a comment also made about Alice and Rachel's duet.

So well done Rosie and Jess who pipped the Reading pair for a podium finish, bringing this weekends tally to

0 GOLDS
2 SILVERS
1 BRONZE

Next up 12 and under team, then free team.

You would not believe its December, I'm sat outside GL1 in t-shirt and shorts. Quite enjoy the climate down here.

13/14 Duet Results (Unofficial)

5th Abigail Devanny & Rebecca Richardson 122.813

A well received routine just fell short of the medals against tough opposition. The commentary team praised the pairing throughout highlighting the fact that the piece contained difficult technical elements that were well executed including linked moves and off angled verticals and double leg verticals.

Next up is 15/16/17 duets. In this we have

Rosie & Jess
Alice & Rachel
Sian & Megan

12 & Under Solo Results (Unofficial)

4th Greta Hampson 117.237
7th Natalie Stephenson-Quayle 116.064

13/14/15 Solo Results

It was going to prove a tough challenge to get into the medals this year, as most of the top ten had solos. Going into the final after figures we had

7th Rosie Barrington
11th Rachel Lee
12th Alice Dewhirst

After the solos, the final positions were

6th Rosie Barrington 127.396
11th Alice Dewhirst 123.874
12th Rachel Lee 123.328

Good execution from all three swimmers. Main points from the commentary, were Rachel's start was impressive and she showed good expression throughout, performing some of her best figures under the judges noses...Alice covered the pool well in an absorbing routine, and Rosie's technical figures were performed well with good height out of the water showing her good figure score.

The end of a long day, and some good results, medal tally from today is;

0 GOLDS
2 SILVERS
0 BRONZE

Results so far ...

All confirmed as official.

We have Rosie, Rachel and Alice swimming 15/16/17 solo next.

Another SILVER in the 12 and Under Duet

It's unofficial, but we think Greta and Natalie have finished in silver position with a great routine swim. Good synchronisation throughout, and it stood out from the other routines due to them swimming close together, and demonstrating some complex linked moves.

SILVER Hampson & Stephenson-Quayle 117.671

in actual fact, the pair had the 3rd highest score, but due to their excellent figure scores, they moved into SILVER position.

So far medal tally is

0 GOLD
2 SILVER
0 BRONZE

Next up is the 15/16/17 solos.

13/14 Solo Unofficial Results

Unofficially we have

5th Melissa Knapton 123.424
6th Rebecca Richardson 123.313
8th Abigail Devanny 119.962

So no medals but really top draw routine swims. Melissa's solo was fast paced, well received and she nailed the spin downs. She had good height in the water and moved above Rebecca and Melissa in the rankings. Abigail's swim was dynamic and complex and well executed, and Rebecca's showed great flexibility and height in the water and she interpreted the music well....Well that was the feedback from the commentary team. They liked all three routines.

12 and Under duet next.

15/16/17 Age Group Results

The theme continues and remarkably we now have

2 out of top ten 12&Under Category
2 out of top ten 13/14 Category
2 out of top ten 15/16/17 Category

Fantastic finish by Jessica to reach 8th place which I believe is the highest placing in this age category for a CoL swimmer, and Rosie finished in 10th as well. With Rachel and Alice in the top twenty, Rosie, Rachel and Alice qualify for the solo.

8th Jessica Ranson 62.374
10th Rosie Barrington 61.926
14th Rachel Lee 60.998
16th Alice Dewhirst 60.664
34th Eloise Bray 56.982
46th Sian Boyle 55.088
48th Evie Pedly 54.869
49th Megan Knight 54.473
50th Angelique Richardson 54.468

out of 59 swimmers.

So with Jess, Rosie, Rachel and Alice in the top twenty, this should give them a chance for a medal in the duet. Megan and Sian also swim the diet as well.

Next up is

13/14 solo

update on 12 & Unders

it was out of 71 competitors - not 61, which makes everyone's achievements even more outstanding.

MEDAL SUCCESS in the 12 and Under Figures !!!

Well done to Greta Hampson - SILVER in the 12 & Under Figures !!!!

This is the highest ever 12 and Under score for the club since 2008, and our first ever Medal in the figures at the English Nationals in any age group !!! Rebecca just got highest placing ever in any age group 30 minutes ago, and Greta has gone one better.

This is turning into a SUPER SATURDAY !!!

And not only that, the scores across the board have improved.

SILVER Greta Hampson 61.557
9th Natalie Stephenson-Quayle 59.264
18th Georgia Fielding 55.714
22nd Megan Ingle 55.109
30th Lauren Wyke 53.280
57th Hope Lee-Fowkes 49.372

Out of 61 Competitors

Some great scores all round. Well done to all, and it puts Greta and Natalie into the solo, and in good positions as well.

In both comps we have had 2 swimmers in the top 10 !!

Just about to start are the Junior Figures.

English Nationals - 13 / 14 Figure Scores

The 13/14 figure scores are in and this makes great reading....

4th Rebecca Richardson 62.113
9th Abigail Devanny 61.152
14th Melissa Knapton 60.364

Out of a field of 65 swimmers.

This is a fantastic result for all three girls, and a shame Rebecca just missed out on a medal but an outstanding score seeing her in 4th place. Again we are seeing a marked improvement of figure scores across the club and this bodes well for the rest of the squad.

Next up is the 12 & Under figures, then Junior Figures.
