Solo Amendmemt

This is unconfirmed and of course depending on penalties etc. but the fantastic news is we CPU
D have our first medal of the Competition with Rosie holding onto second place in a great swim. The leader Rhianon Williams extended her lead and although Rosie was unable to get gold she improved the second place position finishing nearly 2 points above bronze. here are the results,
So, all the placings for our swimmers confirmed, just a correction to the Solo results regarding bronze,

1 Rhianon Williams (Reading) 139.690
2 Rosie Barrington (City of Leeds) 133.270
3 Isobel Collings (Bristol) 131.570

And so a great weekend for the club, Out of the four competitions, we had a Silver, Bronze and two fourth place finishes in combination team and competitive team. A marked improvement on last year when the club came away with no medals.

With only four events at the British Championships, it's hard at to get podium finishes and so to finish in two of the events on the podium is a fantastic effort by the swimmers, coaches, chaperones, and everyone working toward getting the club prepared and ready to compete in regard music, form filling, fund raising hotel booking, travel arranging and everything else involved in supporting our swimmers.

well done to all.

Great highlights and a great ovation from the crowd which sees Georgia's last swim for the club. She will be missed and we wish her every success. She will be done every now and again at the odd training session to watch, but a great finish and a great swim in all 3 team events.

Well done Georgia, and everyone taking part.

Awaiting the final medal ceremony, where we see a bronze for the duet and silver for solo.

Another Medal (unconfirmed)

In quite a contest, Rosie and Jess were squeezed out of Silver Medal position but should have done enough to secure a podium finish. Their routine was faultless and went down well with the GL1 crowd. The Rushmoor pair were 0.6 behind following a penalty award yesterday, but they turned it around and moved into 2nd with a 1.5 lead. Again these positions are unconfirmed and taken from the announcements and do not take into account penalties etc. but at the moment here are the standings;

1 Williams & Usher (Reading) 135.850
2 Bignell & Hockin (Rushmoor)  134.140
3 Barrington & Ranson (City of Leeds)  132.560
4 Griffiths & Toth (Trafford) 129.380
5 Saudan & Farrell (Reading)  127.160
6 Holloway & Dale (Bristol) 126.410
7 Ridge & Smith (Birmingham) 125.470
8 Firth & Randle (Rugby) 125.350
9 Southward & Bowes (Trafford) 122.390
10 Leovold & Dembinska (Rushmoor) 120.830
11 Rice & Monks (Trafford) 121.430
12 Howarth & Hughes  (Preston) 119.100

The last competition of the day is next, the Free Team. The team representing CoL are in 4th and 1.9 points behind, but as we've just seen, its possible to turn it around in the free routine so good luck to the girls.

Unconfirmed Silver Medal

This is unconfirmed and of course depending on penalties etc. but the fantastic news is we CPU

3rd Time Lucky...

In a bit of drama, the City of Leeds Combo team swimming first completely missed the opening lift and the routine was stopped by the referee as the opening bars of the piece were missed out. In a second attempt a repeat although this time the team stayed on the deck and the competition only got under way at the third attempt.

it was a great swim under the circumstances and unofficially the scores announced are as follows

4 Col 65.510
3 Bristol Central 69.020
1 Rushmoor 70.180
6 Birmingham 64.260
5 Trafford 65.050
7 Rugby 63.280
9 Walsall 59.670
2 Reading 70.030
8 Seymour 59.820

I must stress this is unofficial and there may be penalty points but it seems the team are just outside the medals, but finishing in a very respectable 4th place finsish.

Still no news on the tech solo, but we have heard that 4 swimmers were docked a 0.5 penalty point and another docked 1 penalty point, Rosie being one of them receiving a 0.5 penalty. We had her in second place before this based on the scores announced, but the top five were very close and so we await the amended scores. 3 of the top five incurred a penalty including the leader, Rhianon Williams, so hopefully that negates some of the effect of the penalty.

more news to follow,

British Championships Day One

Hi everyone,

Well here we are again in Gloucster for the British Championshiips and the running order for today is;

Technical Solo
Free Combination
Tech Duet
Tech Team Competition

In the first event we have Rosie Barrington Swimming for the City of Leeds and she has just swam a fantastic routine and the completion is still underway but she nestled amongst the leading bunch and well placed. This result is coupled with the free routine tomorrow and so a good placing in the technical event is vital.

The news is that The GL1 has free wifi and so expect many updates as the day goes on.

After the team swim the combo, we then look forward to the duet in which Rosie Barrington and Jessica Ranson compete, and finish off a long day with the Tech Team.

As always, results to follow.
