British Championships Day 3 - Part Two

Sure this must be the fastest results service, final scores just being announced as I type.

And news is another great swim from the team saw a much improved score from the judges and although the position was 5th, it is the first time the routine had been swum and finished only 3 points off last years British Champions, Trafford so the girls should be really pleased by their performance.

Results for the free teams were;

1. Rushmoor 69.620
2. Bristol Central 69.410
3. Reading 68.81
4. Trafford 66.88
5. City of Leeds 63.470

giving a final overall position of

1. Rushmoor 137.120
2. Bristol Central 136.510
3. Reading 135.61
4. Trafford 130.580
5. City of Leeds 120.870

Well done the entire squad - now the long journey home !!!

British Championships Day Three - Part 1

This morning was the finale to the duet competition, with Rosie Barrington and Jessica Ranson performing the free routine.

Lying in 9th position from Friday they were looking to hold this and possibly move up the ranking in the overall figure.

Swimming second, they set the standard with a score of 65.160.

After all duets had swam, they finished 7th, which moved them up into 7th place in the overall placings. Again these scores / placings are subject to verification.

This afternoon see the finale to the team event with the free team.

More news to follow...

British Championships Day Two - Part 2

In the clubs first entry into the combination team event, the squad performed an outstanding swim. The double lift at the end of the swim was performed excellently so full marks to the girls for an exciting end to a great performance.

The team finished a respectable sixth, which was an excellent achievement considering it was the first time it had been swam in competition, and some of the girls had never swam in an event on this stage before.

The results, subject to verification were,

1. Bristol Central 70.79
2. Reading Royals 70.08
3. Rushmoor 70.01
4. Trafford 68.05
5. City of Birmingham 64.56
6. City of Leeds 64.56
7. Rugby 62.98
8. City of Preston 58.75

British Championships Day Two - Part One

Teams today,

Firstly the Technical Team. They swam a great routine but really up against the best in the country and after a great performance sit in 5th place.

Technical Merit Score = 58.8
Artistic Impression = 59.0

Overall Score = 58.9

The order as it stands are,

1. Rushmoor
2. Bristol Central
3. Reading
4. Trafford
5. City of Leeds Synchro

Quite surprizing to see Trafford (Last years championship winners) out of the medal positions, but still a lot hinges on the free routine tomorrow. certainly the girls will be pushing Trafford for the fourth place, so should be a great finale.

The Combination Team event is next up, with 8 club teams in this one. To get the results straight to your inbox, click on the follow me link on the left hand side of the blog.

British Championships Day One Cont.

Some good comments made on the duet, particularly about the complexity of the linked movement, which was performed by the GB Squad last year.

The scores were

Artistic Impression = 55.2
Overall Impression = 57.4

Meaning they are lying in 9th position with a combined score of 56.3.

Scores are still to be verified, but all now goes to the free routine to be held on Sunday.

British Championships - Day One

On a swelteringly hot day in Gloucester we are gathered awaiting the Technical Duet Competition with Rosie Barrington and Jessica Ranson representing the City of Leeds. In the draw they are 3rd last, so news to follow.

As I type the GB duet have just swam with a fantastic duet showing why they won Silver in the Commonwealth games.

This morning was the Technical Solo routine. Unfortunately as many know Rosie had to withdraw but Sarah Speers (ex City of Leeds Swimmer) finished in 2nd position representing Trafford, and is excellently poised for a medal in the conclusion of the solo event with the free solo on Sunday.
